To use a rate a "Gap Fill" set "Restriction Stragety" = "Gap Fill ("Summary tab of your RATE)
Maximum stay defines the maximum stay and also the maximum number of night nights the gap must have.

The Gap fill rate has it's own price which can be higher lower or the same as your normal rate.
